2 Days to Go and Counting!

We really cannot believe there are only 2 more sleeps to go before we embark on our journey! This morning, before work, we went on our last training ride to test the tandem and had to make a few adjustments to our saddle heights and pannier bags. I don't think we've trained nearly enough but hopefully we'll just be getting fitter on the way up to JHB and we can take it at our own pace and not have to race up there! I am really hoping that I'll discover my endurance athlete abilities on the way! I'm not sure my poor body knows what is about to hit it!

We would love to invite you to our send off from the V&A Waterfront on Friday 11th December outside Ferryman's and Vaughn Johson's Wine Shop. (not the Clocktower outside the Ferry to Robben Island as previously mentioned below). Jaco and I will be there from 4:15am as a videographer will be interviewing us and filming us on our bikes. We will officially leave at 5am sharp as we have 180kms lying ahead of us on the first day from Cape Town to Citrusdal. We have checked the weather prediction and it looks great on Friday - a South Easterly pushing us up the coast (tailwind).

We are making last minute preparations to get everything ready. The pannier bags will be packed tonight with all our kit, supplements, energy drink and vitamins have been posted to an address in Kimberley where we will be staying so that we don't have to carry unnecessary weight on the bike and we have been to last minute interviews with PR companies and Die Burger Newspaper. So all that needs to be done before Friday is ALOT of carbo and protein loading - pasta here we come!
